As part of a screening series to explore contemporary North Korean films, “Our Teacher” (2011; “우리 선생님”), produced by the Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts (평양연극영화대학) was shown, followed by a discussion of the visual and cinematic representations of North Korea’s Juche ideology and cultural contexts of the DPRK in relation to the film.

This event was organized by Theresa Hyun (Department of Humanities, York University) as part of the Korean Office for Research and Education (KORE) funded by the Academy of Korean Studies.
