Korean Studies Assistant (KSA) [Winter 2020]

The Korean Office for Research and Education (KORE) is seeking a graduate student at York University with a sustained interest in Korean studies to support the project’s activities in Winter 2020. Applicants must be enrolled in a masters or doctoral program at York University in Winter 2020.  

The student will receive research training (e.g., in library research, transcription, collection and analysis of data, and preparation of presentation materials) through supporting project team members. The KSA will assist in preparing and setting-up educational and scholarly workshops and seminars. The KSA will also be responsible for other tasks related to completing the project’s planned activities.

The goal of KORE at York University is to strengthen Korean studies research and education activities and initiate a series of workshops and conferences to engage in dialogue with other area studies and disciplines.

Qualifications:

1) Excellent communication and organizational skills

2) Proficient in reading and writing in Korean; excellent English language skills in reading, writing, and speaking.

3) Basic research skills, able to work independently and fulfill assigned tasks in a timely manner.

4) Academic background or training in Korean studies or related disciplines is an asset.

The assistantship will commence in January 3, 2020 and end in April 30, 2020. The assistantship is valued at $7,500.
